Mortgage Loan Officer

Compensation:

The base salary is $34,000- $37,000 with incentive.

Offer is based on experience and job related knowledge.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Solicit new mortgage loan applications and lead by developing relationships within the community including Presentation to Realtors from Real Estate company, Mortgage Loan Brokers, Account Executive and Builders; making sale calls to prospective customers.
  • Meet with applicants to obtain borrower and information and answer questions about mortgage loan process with the use of the point-of-Sale(POS) system or traditional handwritten loan application, create new folder for new borrower to share drive, update and upload new documentation.
  • Explain to customers the different types of loan and credit options that are available to them including terms of products and services.
  • Examine borrower’s loan application and supporting documentation for pre-qualifications; analyze borrower’s financial status, credit, and property’s valuations to pursue loan submission and approval; estimate borrower’s credit-worthiness and calculate repayment risk factors.
  • Obtain and compile copies of borrower’s financial information that includes credit histories, corporate financial statements, and other required escrow documents to complete a loan submission. Monitor and satisfy collection of required processing, underwriting, and closing documents which include verification status, and closing documents; coordinate scheduling of loan closing with escrow.
  • Handle customer complaints and take appropriate action to resolve them. Confer with processor and/or underwriter to aid in resolving mortgage application problems to closure.
  • Adhere with Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE Act) rules and maintain an actives status with good standing via National Mortgage Licensing System Registry.
  • Stay abreast of all offered types of loans, other financial services and products, and regulatory compliance.
  • Presentation to branch and loan officer with mortgage products.
  • Involve and attend mortgage seminar and realtor conventions, event expo.
  • Provide recommendation and suggestion from other source with product development, promotions, flyer.
  • Other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the Mortgage Team leader and other senior management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Finance, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
  • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 or 3 years of residential mortgage sales experience or processing experience or equivalent credit or work-related experience is required.
  • Skills/Ability: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, detail oriented, high degree of accuracy, mathematical skills, self-starter, ability to work independently, strong time management, good organizational skill, competence with computers and related software.
  • Knowledge: Must have knowledge not limited to
    • Mortgage principles
    • Mortgage loan origination and SAFE Act
    • Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA)
    • Homeowner’s Protection Act (HPA)
    • Truth in Lending Act (TILA)
    • Privacy laws
    • Fair lending laws
    • Loan processing and underwriting
  • Training Courses Required: Real Estate Salesperson licensing and MLO licensing or Mortgage Loan Originator under the SAFE Act educational courses preferred.
